The Rinker Family

The word “safe” means different things to different people. For some, it’s about caution. For others, it’s peace of mind.

But for me, safety means something far deeper: the freedom to raise my children in faith, without fear or pressure from the outside world. It means nurturing their hearts in a community that honors their God-given dignity and protects their innocence.

Two years ago, my children—Victoria and Charlie—and I were walking through a painful chapter in our lives. We carried heavy burdens of hurt and uncertainty, and I felt the weight of it every single day. As a mother, I longed for a refuge. Not just a school, but a place where my children could heal. Where I could breathe again. Where our family could be embraced with compassion and strengthened in faith.

I prayed for that place. And God answered.

From the moment we arrived at Regina Academy at St. John the Baptist, we weren’t just accepted, we were welcomed as family. The teachers, the parents, the students—they opened their arms and hearts to us. It wasn’t just safe. It was sacred. A place where faith and fellowship were alive, and where healing could begin.

For Victoria, my gentle and quiet daughter, safety meant finding friendships that lifted her up. It meant being seen by adults who recognized her gifts and encouraged them. The Academy gave her the confidence to step into new experiences, knowing she was cherished and supported.

For Charlie, safety looked different. He needed structure, patience, and clear boundaries. He needed people who could see past the surface and nurture his curiosity with love and consistency. The Academy gave him that and more. He found joy in learning and began to grow in self-control and confidence. I watched him transform, not just academically, but spiritually.

And for me? I found peace of mind. I found a place where my children were not only educated but deeply loved. Where they were safe; spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Where they were seen and known.

C.S. Lewis once said, “Children are not a distraction from important work. They are the most important work.” That truth lives at the heart of Regina Academy. Here, children are given more than knowledge. They are given safety, faith, and love. The very foundations they need to become who God created them to be.

Without this community, I don’t know where we’d be. But with it, we are thriving. My children are full of hope, rooted in faith, and surrounded by people who care deeply about their souls. And as a mother, I can’t think of a greater gift.

Thank you for hearing my story. I hope it reminds you of the sacred importance of creating safe spaces for children; places where they can learn, heal, and most of all, know they are loved.
